Long distance running

Today it was time to run a long distance run. Yesterday it was warm and I didn’t expect anything less today.

Mandatory on this run was my water belt with 2 bottles of H2O and 2 bottles of sports drink – Maxim Lemon & Lime flavor and my phone (just in case of an emergency).

When I started the run it was a breeze but then then the heat hit my face and knew that this run would be a tough one. Normally I drink every other k which I started with but after 2k I realized that I would have to drink every k. Before 5k I was on my way to give up by starting to walk but I refused to do that. Yesterday I ran 12.5k in the heat without walking at all.

Then my right knee started to ache a bit. At around 9k I also started to get some pain in M. Gluteus maximus and decided to endure til 11k. Between 10k and 11k the heat started to tiring me out so it was a pain to get to 11k. Walked 1k and then started to run again.

In Lomma it felt like it could be some rain 🙂 but why would I be so lucky?

The last half of the run was much nicer because it was cooler and more breeze. Plus every k was 1k shorter to the goal.

I thought that I would be fine all the way home but then M. glutues maximus bothered me again and I had to walk 1k again between 17k and 18k.

Rain at this point would have been much appreciated but it stayed away.

The last 2k felt very LONG but the last k was even longer, I looked at my pulse watch every other lamppost and finally my pulse watch showed the magical number 22k.

With 20k running, 2k walking I am satisfied with the total time of 2.27.42 h, average speed 6.42 min and max speed was 5.23 min.

I was a bit jealous of the bikers who were out exercising, I cannot wait to buy my own race bike 🙂
