Even if I had muscle soreness after Thurday’s physical training I had decided that I would get to Frostavallen to run the middle part of Tjörnarparen, when I made that plan I had totally repressed that I would get muscle soreness after the physical training but decided to run this trail run anyway.

Took the train 8.28 am and came to Frostavallen around 9.45 am.

Wore running skirt, linnen, compression socks, altra lonepeak 2.5

The pace was slow in the beginning and I was not surprised.

Unfortunately once again my pulse watch was not my friend today, pulse belt and GPS was found and after 340m distance and pace was messed up so it was tough not knowing how long I had run when it came to distance. I need to do something about it, reset my GPS and see if I get this under control.

Today the nettles (=brännässlor) could not be avoided, was on a narrow path and they were on the sides and had to run into them, had to keep saying to myself, do not scratch, do not scratch 🙂

Then after Nyrups Osteria I run on a dirt road and after a while turn left into the woods and then I will cross a creek and get on a narrow path which is hard to find when it is very green and of course I got a bit further down to the left and there they were again, those nettles so I swore a bit 🙂 and once again do not scratch what ever you do 🙂

Not a lot of other runners, passed 4 guys who came in the opposite direction on the black marker which has now changed to blue and than at the end one other runner. But some people who were fishing with fishing rods.

Nice being back, this is definately one of my favorite places.

Tired legs today, I was glad I could finish the route, some walk sessions and at the end I had natural fartlek to not miss the bus going back, interesting how fast tired legs can go if you want to get on a bus but at the end I had to stop, got respiratory distress and missed the bus with 5 min 🙂

Thought first that I had not missed the bus, said 12.45 and I got there 12.36 but then I realized that .45 is the Mon-Fri bus, the Saturday bus leaves at .27 🙂

So I walked first back to Höör and started the pulse watch and ran the whole way for the first time 3.59K (#13)

This morning it was time again for some trail running around Genarp with the Swiss Alpine group.

We were a smaller group today. From the weather reports it looked like it is going to be colder, grey day and it was a bit colder this morning so of course me who is afraid of freezing and getting a cold put on full gear.

During the first couple of k’s it felt like I was wearing a too heavy back pack. Felt tough to breath. So I asked for a mini pause and took off both my fleece and windstopper 🙂 Everything changed, could breath normally.

Got a ride with Madeleine and then we met Gert-Inge on the parking lot. This week I got my new Altra Lone Peak 2.5 and couldn’t hellp myself. I wore those during the run and was really satisfied.

Almost the same route as last week but not completely. I had decided that  I would run all the way at two hills and did it, Felt great!

Found out that we would run down and up the serpentine, that was really fun last time. This time I just flew and felt like Emelie Forsberg.

The sun came out and it was a perfect day til I came uphill on a dirt road and saw Madeleine laying on the road and was wondering what had happened. Sprained ankle. For the first time my elastic bandage came in handy. She tried to run after a while but it did not work so we walked but then she fell down in pain again. I felt that it would be better if she could be picked up by a car. Gert-Inge got my phone number and ran to his car.

He called and told us we had to move 1500 m. Madeleine could not walk so I carried her with some pauses. Then she could walk with baby steps with my support. At the end Gert-Inge came on a bike and Madeleine ”jumped on” (a lady from the house where the car was borrowed her child’s bike to Gert-Inge.

Lucky us Madeleine had automatic transmission.

Today I enjoyed the run a lot because I did not run around angry.

17.35K Trail Run

#25 – 50 runs in 100 days – No excuses edition

This year is about getting more higher meters of altitude since I plan to run a ultra race called Kullamannen Ultra i Nov and I have found a new group of Runners who are getting ready for Swiss Alpine in August and they have a pace that suits me perfectly.

Finally I could join them today in Genarp. I got a ride with Terje who has a big red jeep and of course we discussed running on our way to Genarp where we met the rest of the group.

We were 6 people and 2 of them were former AZ colleagues and one guy had two common friends, Nishaban who also is a former colleague from AZ and then Jeanice who belongs to CKR.

I wanted higher meters of altitude and I GOT it. We ran on a mountain bike trail and I liked the  serpentine the best, first down the serpentine, we paused shortly and then ran back up,

There were some hills where I had to walk part of it, I am not used to these hills but will run with this group to improve.

During the run my gloves, hat and fleece got off. The temperature was 9oC (48F) when we started.

Here is when we were running up a longer dirt road, first I was able to run but at the end I had to start walking so my inflection Point (=brytpunkt) came a bit earlier.

Even if I have just got back from a longer cold I was proud of myself. Am satisfied with my run. I am going to be tired in my calves tomorrow 🙂

I have realized that when I am running in the city and I am saying hello to other runners I can get the evil eye from some runners but when I am running on trails every runner is so happy and say hi with a smile 🙂

I was tired of all the city running and needed to get out in the woods again so instead of running Lund Runt with CKR I got up early this morning to take the train to Tjörnarp.

Last night I was determined I would run up Djuralidsbacken (Djuralids hill) but when I woke up this morning it had snowed 🙂 Felt that this would be an interesting run.

What was magical about this trail run was that the snow was untouched, I was the first one who ran on the trail. My brain got confused because of the snow, the natural paths had ”disappeared” soo even if I am familiar with the route the yellow streamers made my day today.

It was nice running alone in the woods, such tranquility.

What I didn’t know what was under snow, I got surprised a few times during the run, cracking ice. I do not like to get wet feet and try to avoid it as long as I can because sooner or later it will happen.

Let say that it was  a flashback from Tjörnarparen in Dec when I had to throw in the towel. The same wet but with snow and a bit more wet to  be honest. So after the  loop was a watering hole so of course I ran the same detour as on Tjörnarparen and thought that I was on the safe side and then it was water under the snow short after so my right foot got wet and it feels so much colder in the Winter.

When I  got to Frostavallen I passed some dog wakers, trekkers but no runners but I saw foot prints on my way to Nyrups Naturhotell.

At 22K I got pain in my right knee and decided to walk for 500 m to see if I would be fine, hoped not to run into too many issues. Here my brain got confused again becuase they had cleared trees so it looked so different. The pain disappeared but I had  to walk a couple of more times because they had cleared more trees in the woods and there were frozen tractor tracks that was tough to run on.

It was tough running in the in the snow and very tired legs and feet but felt great to back on the trails.

It turned out that there was no bus at 13.27 so I didn’t want to stand and freeze for another hour so it was just to run to Höör to the train station. That wasn’t very pleasant after 40K trail

This morning it was time to run a distance run (distanspass). I wanted it to be hilly.

Temperature: -2oC (28F), sunny and blue sky 🙂

When I woke up this morning it had snowed. It did not look like I needed metal studs so I decided I would wear my Altra Lone Peak 2.0. I have not run with these on snow yet so it would be a test as well. It looked a bit slippery so it was not about speed today.

What a great day, even if it was cold it was not raw cold.

When I came to St Hans hills I realized that I was the first runner after the snow fall so no trace of running shoes just snow.

There were some icier parts but if I took it easy it was just fine running with my Altra Lone Peak on the snow but I avoided the icier part.

I love to hear the crack sound when I run on the snow.

After two laps on St Hans hills I ran a flat part and got back to St Hans hills. It was also a test how it would be to run with my Altra Lone Peak on longer asphalt parts and dirt roads during the flat part but it worked just fine.

I met some under happy runners who said hello.

I was glad that I decided to run during the day when the sun was out and the blue sky and it glitters in the snow. Looked so nice.

I thought it would be great to head out for another run Christmas Day. Decided that I was going to run around St Hans hills, I was thinking that I might do intervals but thought it would be too wet. So 3-4 laps on St Hans hills and then I could not decide if I would use my Fellraiser or Altra Lonepeak. Realized that I had not been running on St Hans hills with my Altra Lonepeak when it is really gooey so Altra Lonepeak 2.0 was the choice.

Decided to run on the original route (SHE) and start at the half moon, at the bottom, and go from there.

I saw some other runners and met one biker who was biking on the route.

There was one hill in particular that was the worst one, a lot of cord groove (=slirspår) so it was tough running up the hill without sliding down. At the circle hill I have an alternative route to avoid falling in the goo.

Felt that I had a good pace and was getting up the hills faster which felt really great.

There has been a discussion in my running group how u best wash your dirty running shoes and someone said that something that cleans your running shoes is doing trail running during the Fall and Winter. I am not sure that did the trick today.

Yesterday I had a cold feeling (that I might catch a cold) and hoped that I wouldn’t have a cold this morning. So no training yesterday, drank a lot of fluid and stayed warm and hoped for the best. Didn’t get any worse yesterday so I was hopeful.

It was suppose to be cold this weekend. When I woke up 6 am the temperature was 0oC (32F) so it was time to test the same 2XU windstopper tights I had last weekend since it is very likely that the temperature might be the same in Dec. And  I plan to wear these.

Took the train to Höör and then the ”Ring bus” to Frostavallen which was a short ride. Alternative when I do not have anyone to run with.

Last preparation before my last race and ultra race this year Dec 12th. Decided to run the middle part of Tjörnarparen which I have not run yet this year. The worst hill is on this part and I had a goal. The first part is very familiar since it is part of my 45K run. I realized I had mixed up the different parts because all of a sudden I had to turn left and I thought that I was on my way to the ”Spong” part. A flash back came back. So it was time to be on the black marker that get very camouflaged. It was very gooey and wet and was trying to avoid getting too wet feet. First I am running in the forest and then get out on a dirt road and then the famous spong comes and here it would be interestering to see how my Altra Lonepeak would handle it and once again I was positively surprised how good it works to run on those sponges and not doing any ice skating 🙂

Last year on Tjörnarparen I was in a shitty mood during the black marker. After half the distance I had to start walk/run, walk/run and also I got to a part with a big puddle and realized that I had to run through it and got really wet feet and then when I was on my way to the third fuel station a official showed up on a hill and cheered me on. That made my day so much better 🙂

After the third fuel station I remember that I ran on a dirt road and it felt SO long til I got to the green marker and was wondering how I would feel today. The dirt road is long but finally Djuralidsbacken was there (Djuralids hill), the worst hill on this ultra race, it is short but steep. My goal today was to run up this hill, walked up this hill last December and I DID IT, ran the whole hill. Felt so good, short after that there is another steep short hill, ran up that one as well, it felt so much shorter today 🙂

Once again during this run I passed some other runners and we said hallo to each other, two bikers that I said hallo to too.

When I had around 5K left I was hoping I would not miss the bus that just goes once every hour. So I had natural Fartlek at the end, came back 3 min before the bus was suppose to come. Had to wait some extra minutes and had to warm my legs. When I was running I was warm but when I was not moving it was COLD

#16 – 50 runs in 100 days – Hardcore edition

This morning I woke up at 5 am to take the train to Tjörnarp at 7.31. This would be my last longer trail run before Tjörnarparen – 50K, Dec 12th. This was my first ultra race last year.

When I looked at the weather report yesterday I saw that it would rain 0.8 mm/h at 8 but totally forgot about that til this morning when I arrived at the train station and OH YES it rained. I waited it out and started the run. From time to time today it has rained but I decided I wouldn’t care and for some reason it did not bother me.

It is interesting how your brain can get really confused, after 2K’s run I ran in the Woods where they had felled trees, it looked totally different, even if I had the route in my pulse watch my brain still got confused. On my way back something told me I ran more to the right today so the route might be changed Dec 12th 🙂

I didn’t see any new piglets, I have found out that soon there will be new piglets which was some weeks ago.

The loop went good, walked only on the wet branches where it is slippery.

Came to Frostavallen where I met some other runners and it is so nice because we say hi to each other and smile. It lit up my day. There was one girl who was behind me with her dog and asked me if I was afraid of dogs and I said no. The dog fell behind at some point 🙂 but had to take up the pace to get to her owner and then I met a guy who I Think has run Tjörnarparen or I have met him before. He asked me if I did a testrun before Tjörnarparen 🙂

No errors yet and finally I found the small path after Nyrups Osteria when  have crossed a stone wall.

The time at 22.5K was 2 h and 50 min which gave me hope.

Today it was extra gooey and wet but I never froze.

When I got back to Frostavallen I know that I am going to run to the left at Waxsjön but by automatic I started to run to the right and realized it and have to get back on the right track. Unfortunately now at 30K I ran into a knee issue that forced me to walk for a while. I hoped it wouldn’t come back. Then it is hunting season so it is not odd to pass hunters and they stood in a group and I said hi and they all said hi at the same time. They seemed to be the nice hunters. They confused me as well, turned to the left when I was going to turn to the right but realized that as well. So finally it was only 11K left, it always feel close.

Walked over the loop and had a tough time after that.

But then it was only 4K left and there was hope that I wouldn’t miss the train.

I have had a good running day today, focused on the running so no pictures were taken. Tested my new Altra Lonepeak 2.0 with the right size. It was such a joy to run in them. At a certain place at Frostavallen there is uneven stones close to each other and many down hills where I have sworn before because my toes have ached and today I had NO PAIN. I just love these new shoes. The sole is different from 1.5 and felt tired under my feet and one positive thing that I was not prepared for was that I had not problem running on the ”spänger”, I call them spongar.

Both Salomon Fellraiser and Altra Lonepeak 1.5 were not good on these.

Even if I ran into some issues I am very satisfied with myself. Seemed to have a good pace. It has been so nice to follow my development this year. So much has happened and I feel so much stronger.

Today it was time to test my new Altra Lonepeak 2.0 with the correct size, one size bigger than normal and better grip than 1.5

It has been raining for a couple of days so what was better than running a couple of laps on St Hans hills.

Temperature: 15oC (59F)

When I got to St Hans hills I decided I would run the regular way at the Mördarbacken (”Murder hill”) where it was really gooey. Upwards on that hill was no fun. I was gliding down a couple of times, Lonepeak 2.0 did not pass the test there. At the short hill there was parts where I was gliding a bit and before I got to that hill I had to take a detour because it was puddles on the dirt road that covered most of it 🙂

Then the famous circle hill came and there is a place where Fellraiser does not pass the test so with that in mind I ran down that part and voilá it was like Bambi on ice. Fell on the side and when I got up again it did not take long til I fell on my butt 🙂

In the forest grove it is dangerous to run with regular running shoes but lonepeak 2.0 passed the test.

Second lap it was more safe to walk part of Mördarbacken (”Murder hill”) to avoid injuring myself and then of the top hill I chose parts where it was not as gooey. A the circle hill I did not want to fall flat on my face so I find grass parts where I could run on to have a safe run down.

Kindergarten was out on St Hans hills and when I ran down Slalombacken (Down hill hill) one kid waved at me and one asked me why I came from the opposite side. I was not sure how I would respond.

Decided that I would run another lap where by automatic now took the variant at Mördarbacken (”Murder hill”) which first is a better choice but then the middle part is worse when it has been raining so I ran instead in the middle and to the Mördarbacken half up  (”Murder hill” ).

Now St Hans hills is not the same as the trail where my last ultra race is this year. This weekend I will do my last longer trail run before the race and I will run in these shoes to see how they are for example at the loop and on some of the hills.

I think that even if I was gliding on part of some hills today that lonepeak passed the test, Fellraise cannot handle parts of St Hans hills either when it is gooey.

So nice to run in shoes with enough room 🙂

The alarm went off 4 am this morning and the reason for that was that I was going to run a race starting at 8 am at Kullaberg called The Death Zone (= Dödens Zon). I was going to get picked up at 5.40 so the day before I had packed, taken out what I am going to wear, mixed sportsdrink and shaken out Redbull and made ”Jägarsnus” (raisin, peanuts and chocolate).

We had to leave earlier to pick up our number tags. We got there just before the Ultra race started at 7 am which is 3 laps of The Death Zone.

After that we went back to the car and got ready for the race, since I knew that it was very likely that I would take off my windstopper because it was going to be too warm when I started running on those hills I decided that I would only have a long sleeve and fleece, gloves and my CKR hat, I also brought my race belt which is very good to use when you know that you will take off clothes during the race.

Just before the start the story about Kullamannen was told and he was riding in on a horse 🙂 and I just wanted to start. The max time was set to 4h and it was my goal to finish in less than 4h. When I ran the course Oct 4th I ended up running around 25K, did some loops and have a hard finding the path at Håkullen but now when it would be streamers I did not expect any major running errors on my part.

And off we went. It was a bit chilly and windy in the beginning but did not bother me much. I saw on my pulse watch that I was keeping a pace of 6.30 and was satisfied with that. I was wondering what would happen when we got to the narrow path when we entered Kullaberg. That was the first ”stop”, had to stop running because everyone in front of me walked but it is a short part and it did not take long til we came to much wider parts. I have to say that this was the first race where runners actually were keeping themselves to the right and if it was no room to pass and you said to the right they moved to the right 🙂

Another stop was when we were almost coming down to the coast and all the stones but after that if was fine. I had decided I wouldn’t run over the stones because some of them are loose it it so unnecessary to sprain my foot and this morning some of the stones were also slippery. Here it was time to take off my fleece and gloves and hat had been taken off earlier

When we got to Nimis there was the first tough really steep part where I climbed, no chance I would run here. after that it was some running again. I noticed that they had reorganized the route just before Håkullen where we were suppose to run down a steep trail, get down to stones again and up a tough steep part again. It might have been too slippery that it was a safety risk, not that the new part was less steep or less tough. My time at 10K was around 1 h 40 min so it felt that it would be possible to finish under the max time. Now my legs started to feel tired so it was time to take out my bottle of Redbull in the front of the back pack.

When I start to almost fall on the stones I know that I am tired, had to tell myself to lift my feet so I would avoid falling flat faced down.

When we got to Kullens fyr (Kullen’s lighthouse) I was just passing the fuel station since I had sports drink, water and redbull and candy and stuff with me. Turned out they had moved the cows, saw them later in a paling, I guess they might get stressed of all the runners that would pass them where they had been earlier.

Now Mölle harbor was close and you could see it from a distance. I walked up some hills at the end to rest my tired legs. After Nimis it felt that I could have gotten cramp but lucky me it did not happen 🙂

I like this race, it has a lot of variation, normal hilly trails, stoney parts where I would like to be able to run faster, even if I got the comment today that I was rushing down those, I wouldn’t say rush. At some parts I cannot run down or up them but at the end I was actually doing that. And then you have these parts which are really steep and it is impossible for me to run there. The best ultra runners are on the other hand running up those parts, the best are running one lap (The Death Zone) in less than 2 h.

Then I got to the beach and knew that it was close, Heard that it was only 800m left and I started to run faster and faster.
