17.88K Trail Run

#23

The plan was to spend the weekend on Österlen and yesterday I was waiting for my ride. Got a phone call that the car got a flat tire. The second call informed me that it woudln’t be any Österlen this weekend since the flat tire could not get fixed til Monday. Had to do some replanning and has just gotten outside of my door when I got the third call telling me that the flat tire could be fixed yesterday 🙂

So I was so glad that I would be able to run the route that i did this morning.

TIme again to hit the trails again on Österlen.

Would increase the distance to 18K and decided that I would start from Alunbruket and follow the orange marker til the last 6K when I would change to yellow marker. Yellow has too much dirt roads with smaller stones on it in the beginning while the orange is in the woods and narrow paths, a dirt road that is ok, reguarl one but the last 6K is on dirt roads and asphalt.

What a great day I have had.

Sunny when I started but not too sunny and not too warm. My body was with me.

Ran up the first hill 🙂

There is one hill in the beginning which I do not run up on because it too much loose sand.

It so great to feel so much stronger and lighter even if I still need to loose a few more pounds. I do not know if the pneumonia has made my lungs stronger or what it is. I remember that last year I was more of a walker than a runner, was more walking. Now  I ran most of the time, still have some hills that I AM going to run up on all the way this summer.

After the first part of wood running it was cloudy and cooler and a very nice breeze.

Realized what all the wet had done to some dirt roads, it was new sand on them.

I had sad the run would take 2.5-3h and was so glad that it took less than that, it shows how much better I am now than last year and I want to keep up the good work, increase the distance and get faster. That is my goal this year. Now I feel I am a runner finally.

Ended the run with the mandatory swim even if it was a bit colder but it is always nice with a swim to cool off.

16.09K Long Run

#21

Today it is the ultra race Hallandsultran but I am not there yet so I am back on Österlen and did the same route as last weekend.

Started a bit later than last weekend.

The sand in the beginning did not get me into any knee issues, maybe a good sign.

The first half part is flat but tough since I am running on sandy parts but my knee was just fine today 🙂

Before I had even run 5K I was very warm and was hoping that I wouldn’t have a bad day but then I got positive thoughts back. Wanted to last to the village Vik where I could wet my hair and face in the ocean. What a joy to be able to do that.

The only one I could blame is myself that did not start to get out earlier.

Then I walked up that steep hill and walked a bit after that. Last weekend I walked longer but I started running earlier this time.

Glad I had my ultra back pack with water in my water bladder. Drank water from time to time. And on the second half part I also had to wet my hair and face.

Was passed by a bigger group of bikers but was not bothered.

After Vik it is 5K boring running on asphalt even if the scenery is beautiful.

On the first hilly part I ran up longer this time which made me happy.

But it is also a good feeling knowing that I am close to Stenshuvud at that time.

I had a plan that I would try to run on part of that steep uphill to Stenshuvud’s top but couldn’t do it so I walked fast this time to, I am not out on a Sunday walk, I am exercising.

When I am at the top I have done all the tough parts and now I have only approximately 1.7K left til I am done.

Nice to see that I continued to run on the rocky parts where it was flat but after the top it is rocks downhill where I take it easy.

Because of the heat I struggled a bit but I felt strong and light despite the heat and was satisfied with the time, thought the heat would slower me down.

Glad that Wille brought cold water that was nice to drink after the run. After it was the mandatory swim in the ocean and then of course lunch

Hoped that I would run faster and was very satified with the time. I get the feeling that the pace gets improved more and more which I want and then I need to increase the distance so I can do my first 40K run in August is the plan.

16.17K Long Run

#19

Today it was time to increase the distance. I am spending the weekend on Österlen and was thinking what route should I run.

I could have run from Christinehof to the rest area outside Brösarp or the route that I decided which was from Tobiksvik to Stenshuvud on the side which would be around 15-16K.

I decided that I would start at 9 in the morning to stay out of the most heat.

Decided to wear a t-shirt just in case it would be chilly and then shorts, Tuesday I almost got abrasions inside of my thighs when I wore my running skirt. And then I had water in my ultra back pack. Was thinking about bringing an extra bottle with water to wet my face and hair, but did not want to carry extra weight.

Started running on sand which was tough on my knee but then I got on better ”running material”

This is a very nice route even if it 5K asphalt running. But before that I am running near the coast, close to the water between some villages and then at around 7K before I ran up a hill I took the chance to step down to the water and wet my face and hair.

On the first hill I got issues with my knees and did my first walk. Then I hit the asphalt.

I run on country roads til I get to Stenshuvud which is a National park.

At 10.30 am it got warmer and suffered a bit.

When I turned left on the dirt road to get to Stenshuvud I felt tired in my legs I decided it would be my last 500m walk. In the National Park I had to run the whole way til I got to the path up to Stenshuvud’s top.

It is early time of the summer but when I am on Österlen I after a long run take a swim in the ocean. I had prepared for that and I felt warm after the run so of course it was time for the first swim in the water

Enjoyed my day, met some other runners but most of the time I was alone, heard the waves, heard the bird songs.

When I got to Stenshuvud on the first part I was by myself and got some shadow. Up on the toughest hill on this route I walked as fast as I could and finally I was there and looked over the top and the water

20.78K Trail Run

#12 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

Felt that I needed breakfast before my long run this weekend so I woke up at 7 am, ate breakfast and got ready for a new route on Österlen

IMG_4850_170617IMG_4851

Started at Tobisvik, a camping place on the outside of Simrishamn, new route that I had not run before.

IMG_4852_170617

Started in shorts, t-shirt and my ultra back pack but I had a hard time breathing and decided to take off my t-shirt and run in my sports bra which was a good decision because I could breath much lighter after that.

IMG_4853_170617

Found the orange marker when I decided to run down the dirt road just before Vårhallen, much nicer then being on the bike path, passed a lot of dog walkers and morning walkers in the beginning.

IMG_4856_170617

Passes smaller villages also, my firt detour was done when I got close the water again, saw the orange marker, took a picture over the water

IMG_4857_170617

and continued the route but my head told me that this did not seem right so I headed back, brought up the map but had forgotten my eye glass but saw another runner running up hilll and then I saw the orange marker and took the same way

IMG_4858_170617

Then it was a while when I ran on asphalt, the surroundings were nice but a bit boring

Continued running on asphalt til I got to Stenshuvud
S
tenshuvud is a national park

There I also took a detour, thought that I would run down to the right but once again my heat said that this does not seem to be right and realized that I should have run to the left again, detours is not a negative thing, you get more distance 🙂

Here am I at the highest point at Stenshuvud national park with a great view. On my view there I got flashlights of Kullaberg

IMG_4868_170617

Highlight of the day was this experience

IMG_4869_170617

IMG_4870_170617

I ran down these stairs, was easier than on Hallandsultran where I have to get up similiar stairs

Lovely running in the woods, such beautiful view

IMG_4871_170617

Realized that I had gotten very close to Kiviks musteri

And then I saw orange markers passing Kiviks musteri but got fooled because there were some orange markers on a road to the left and headed down there, got down to the water but did not see any natural path and anymore markers and headed back on the asphalt

IMG_4875_1700617

IMG_4873_170617

And after the route was finished it was lovely, refreshing with my first dip in the water this year, cold but did not freeze too much afterwards

IMG_4877_170617

Satisfied with the route, new, lovely nature, some walking but also running.
