The original plan was to run the same hilly run as last week but got delayed at work and when I biked home it felt very warm. I was not sure if I would survive or not but time would tell.
Put on linnen, running skirt, ultra back pack with one 250ml water bottle and one 500 ml water bottle.
Me running and heat are not best friends and the heat affected me early.
Forced myself to run approximately 2.7K before I had to stop and walk.
What is it with stones. Why do they most of the time put themselves between the shoe and my heel?
Then it walking from time to time up to Klosterängens höjder. But I had promised myself that I would run up all the hills there.
Was totally exhausted when I had run up the first hill and had to catch my breath.
Then I ran up the second hill and catched my breath there for a shorter time and ran down on the other side. But when I turned around and started running on this longer hill I had to stop and walk shortly and then ran up the last part. Had to catch my breath 🙂 Then I just had to run up the last hill before I ran towards St Hans Hills.
At around 8K I ran into a knee issue.
I decided on my way to St Hans hills that I would try to run up all the hills even if it might mean I had to walk between.
Got ready, last week I was not able to run up the first hill but this time I did. Was very breathless and had to walk before the second hill.
Running up on all hills was very exhausting tonite. Tired legs as well but I ran up all the hills which felt good.
During the run I decided I would cut the distance due to the heat and knee issue at the end.
When I finished running one lap on St Hans hills I ran directly to my home instead of continuing on my 5K run back.
I was eating lunch with my test team at lunch and it was warm when we walked to the restaurant.
I was prepared when I biked home but it turned out that even if it was warm, it was not as warm as Tuesday and it was a nice breeze on most of the route.
The plan was as Tuesday, I would try to run as long as possible if I was forced to walk. And then try to run at least 3K if I had to stop again.
Wore linnen, running skirt, flipbelt and water belt.
Headed out on the run, felt a bit in my knee in the beginning, forgot to put on liniment, hoped that I would be fine.
After 3K there is an uphill part on a dirt road, part of me wanted to walk up that part but my stronger me decided that I had to run up on it and I did and then I was breathless and walked 500m.
I do not know what it is with this short hill, after this one there are two that are longer but I manage those without walking afterwards. Maybe I run faster up the first one and then take it more easy on the second and third.
Once again very good to have a water belt so I can drink and wet my hair.
After I had walked 500 m I managed to run 6K before the next walk. Lars my running buddy have taught me that you can push it more than you think. It was so true, I got up a fast pace and was breathless but could still run for a longer period of time.
During the walk I decided that now I would run all the way home, it was only 2.5K left and so I did.
Great run today and the fastest of my 12.5K runs 🙂
Tonite it was time to increase the distance to 12.5K.
When I biked home from work I would cross the route that the St Hans Extreme 6h race would run. Had time to stop and cheer them on. They had started 2 pm and I biked home 4.30 pm
It was warm so I put on linnen, running skirt, mandatory water belt and flipbelt.
Started my run, at one point I started to run faster and in the heat my lungs protested and had to stop walking for a bit
So then I got to the part where the ultra runners were running between the hills and they had a flat part where I also ran. I cheered on all of them who I was passing, some I knew and some were strangers, I probabaly cheered on some regular runners, thought they were part of the race but probabaly wasn’t.
I had issues with my right knee so most of the walks was due to this knee issue but was glad I got out anyway.
I had to pass a horse that was in front of me, ran as far to the left as I could just in case the horse would be scared.
Did not suffer so much because of the heat, am so glad that I have water with me so I can wet my hair and drink water to not get dehydrated.
The original plan today was to run my 10K city run and premiere on St Hans hills Thursday but realized that on Thursday the race St Hans Extreme is happening so it wouldn’t work.
I was suppose to run three laps but since I had booked laundry time I had to be back at a certain time, decided that two laps would be just fine.
Warm of course so I wore linnen, shorts, water belt and flipbelt.
Now I let my legs decide the pace which works much better.
One lap on St Hans hills has 12 hills, both shorter, steeper, longer, a good mix, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to run all the way up on all those hills but the goal was to start running and hopefully make it all the way. If not it would be just fine. I am not back 100% when it comes to trail running but I am working on it.
The run would be shorter than planned but to get as close to 10K I decided I would start running up where St Hans Extreme starts and it starts just below the ”Downhill hill”, longest of them all, steep first and then level out at the end.
I started running on that hill but had to stop and walk part of it and was quite breathless when I was on the top, then there is a half moon, some call it horse hoof and then comes the ”Short hill”, it is called so because it is the short hill when I do hilly intervals with Coach K Runners but most of the hills are short 🙂 Started running but had to stop and walk part of the hill. Then I ran up some hills all the way before I got to the ”Circle hill” where I ran up the first part but on the other side I started running on that hill but had to stop walking. Then I ran up some hills all the way. Then it comes the hill in the grove where I also started running on but had to stop and walk part of it. After that it is a very short hill and then comes the ”Murder hill” where my legs refused to run at all so I walked up that hill.
Great to have water with me, I both drank and wet my head during the run.
I decided that on the second lap I would try to run longer on those hills where I had to walk part of it and then or course run all the way on those hills where I ran all the way on the first lap.
On the first lap a horse showed up, first we passed face to face but I kept a distance and then the horse turned around and ran up the short hill where I was behind the horse, lucky me the horse was faster than me, I had to be on my watch but the horse stayed on the top hill.
Second lap I ran longer on that first hill and just decided that I would run all the way on the ”Short hill” which I did 🙂
On the ”Circle hill” I ran longer on the second hill, in the grove I hoped that I would run all the way up but had to stop and walk but got longer on this hill too.
Then I decided that I would run all the way up on the ”Murder hill” and I did 🙂
I have to say that I did a good job there even if I had to walk part on some hills.
It felt good to be back on St Hans Hills. Hopefully soon I can start doing intervals again both pulse based and hilly intervals.
This morning Wille and I took the train up to our capital city in Sweden, Stockholm.
I had decided that I would run before lunch and dinner and have planned a 5K run.
When I have run in Stockholm earlier it has been early in the morning but now when I ran some errands after lunch there were of course a lot of cars, street lights and I did not feel running on the streets.
Knew that it was a gym at the hotel so I took a look at it before I got back to the hotel room.
Put on my running gear: shorts, t-shirt and headed down in the basement.
Had decided to run 3K and started running, it is so interesting with a treadmill, I do not like to run on a treadmill, but then I have been part of a battle when I ran on one for 6 hours, unbelievable. But it has it pros and cons.
Sweaty because there was no fan, not so good airconditioning in the gym.
And it feels that I am running much faster than the pace, I started with 6 min/k but had to get down to around 6.30 min/k.
When I had reached 3K, I decided I would run one more k and when I had 800 m left I pictured I was near the finish line and at each 100 m I shouted only 800 m left, 700 m, 600 m etc.
Finished with 24 pushups, 3×20 twisted boat with 2.5KG weight.
Right now I have problems logging into Movescount on the web so I will add the pictures later.
After Tuesday’s run I had decided I would run my 10K city run after work.
During work my knee did not complain, just a regular day.
Just before I was going to leave work I remembered the start of the 9.9K run I decided to run Tuesday but ended up being shorter so I had to replan the running during the route to get up to around 9K.
On my way home I was going back and forth which route I would run but finally I had made up my mind and decided to run the route that was I started on Tuesday.
I felt breeze when I biked home, did not feel so warm but when I got home it was warm.
Decided to wear running skirt, linnen, flipbelt and water belt. The water was a life saver during the run.
I decided that my legs would decide the pace tonite 🙂
What a run, compared to Tuesday it felt much better.
After the first hill where part of me wanted to walk up but my stronger me decided that I would run up that hill and I did it but afterwards it felt almost that I was going to get respiratory distress and walked for a short distance.
Ran again, ran up one short part and two medium parts and after the second medium part that road came where it is going up for a longer part, started running on that road but my legs just stopped in the beginning and I walked the rest of the road to get my breath back.
Now it got cooler and got breezier.
I am not sure how long I had been running when I started to feel pain in my right hip and then also right knee. A good rule is to stop and walk til the pain is gone and try again. So a short walk, during the walk I see a horse in front of me going over a bridge, oh no. What I do not want is to get behind a horse and have to pass it, like I have said before I am not afraid of horses but do not want to get kicked by them.
Lucky me when I was ready to start running again the horse had stopped and I started running and decided that I would run the rest of the way home, was approximately 2.5K left.
Cooler and breezier.
Last hill part where I decided that I would run up and not walk and increased the pace at the end.
To sum this route: 3 walks: 2 shorter and 1 longer, walked up one part and ran up the rest. The best was that it felt just like a normal run when it is warm.
But I do not want to jump yet. See if it will continue to feel like a normal run from now on. Than it has taken one month.
The original plan was to run a 10K city run but since it went well around Frostavallen, my first trail run last week I changed my mind and decided to run 3 or 4 laps on St Hans Hills.
Unfortunately while I was working I ran into an issue with my right knee but was still determined to run on St Hans Hills.
When I got home I couldn’t decide, City run? St Hans Hills? City run? St Hans Hills? At the end I decided I would run the city run to not strain my knee but just before I headed out the door I realized I knew a 9.9K city run but more out in the country and decided to run that route instead.
In the beginning I had heavy legs, hard time breathing, it was 23oC (73F) and cloudy. Decided to take out the t-shirt under the flipbelt and now I could breath a bit better 🙂
The flipbelt has its pros and cons.
Ran in the beginning but then I got on a road in a neighborhood where it just went up and my legs did not want to run so I decided to walk all the way til I was on the top, was a bit breathless.
I was hoping that I would be able to run the rest of the way but no such luck. The knee protested plus it was bit warm, almost decided to not bring my water belt but was glad I did because I had to drink and water my head and face a couple of times.
I realized that the route would not be 9K and was thinking how would I get those 9K and realized if I ran back and then turned to the left I would end up on my 5K route but backwards and that would be around 9K
When I ran into pneumonia I googled how to get back after pneumonia and runners said that you would run into set backs, would have some good days and then it would be heavy again and maybe this nite was a set back?
Don’t get me wrong, I was glad that I got out but I did not think it would be this hard, I guess the knee and some heat was part of the problem.
During the run I had a good pace from time to time, I have decided know that I will let the legs decide the pace, they will slow down when they want to and it is very true.
I saw this scenery during the run, it is dandelions which have bloomed over and the wind had spread the white over the ground, looked really interesting.
I hope that the next 10K run will feel much better.
Yesterday’s run was tough due to the heat, I struggled but did not cut the distance.
On the weather report it looked like today would be as warm but I was determined to run the distance that I had decided. Tonite I increased the distance to 10K.
At work in the afternoon I saw that it looked like it was breezier so I might survive.
I decided to wear my running skirt again, linnen this time, water belt and flipbelt.
Temperature: 24oC (75.2F)
My legs decided the pace from the beginning.
It was much breezier but I still had to wet my hair and drink water during my run.
Major improvement today, I ran the first 4K in a 6.30 min/k pace, longest so far, then came an upwind and I slowed down but continued to have from time to time a 6.30 min/k pace.
After around 6K I was forced to walk due to the heat but decided it would be a short walking distance.
I also had to walk prior to that, not because of the heat but it was difficult to get the mobile back into the flipbelt after I had taken some pictures. The flipbelt is great just as long as you have things in there but do not have to bring things out. The waterbelt is over the flipbelt and the flipbelt is turned with the holes towards my body.
There were a couple of more times that I had to walk, some issue with my right knee also.
When it was approximately 2K left I decided that now you are running all the way home and I did.
Even if I had this 6.30 min/k pace and I was breathless, it felt more like the breathless I feel if I am heavier and not due to the breathlessness that I felt in the beginning.it
This was my fastest run so far 🙂
I really hope it will soon feel more normal.
Tomorrow I will test myself on the trails again. I want to know where I stand, I will get myself to one of my favorite trail places and try the green marker. There are two really tough hills but I am looking forward to it a lot.
When I biked home from work I realized it was very warm.
No way I would wear long sleeve wool, windstopper and long tights.
Tonite it would be premiere for shorts and t-shirt but when I got home I changed my mind and decided to put on my running skirt. Also premiere for my flipbelt and water belt.
To try to avoid another knee issue I put liniment on my right knee
Temperature: 24oC (75.2F)
Decided that the legs would decide the pace the first 1K but it was tough getting them to slow down not until on the bog they slowed down due to the heat.
From time to time the pace increased but I was not too breathless
Water belt is a tip when it is warm and you do city runs, you can drink and also wet your hair and face. It helped for a while but then it was warm again
I was forced to walk from time to time due to the heat.
But since I did not have any knee issue I wouldn’t cut the distance, I am not a person who give up. I need to loose weight and get fit again and not head out because it was warm was not an option.
Same thing with the gym, need to get the strength back and just because it is tough right now I won’t give up there either, it won’t make me stronger.
There were some other runners that seemed to struggle with the heat.
Once again my legs started to run faster and faster at the end
Even if it was warm tonite I was glad I ran, not too bad, 4 minutes slower than last time due to heat is just fine.
This was my last 8K run, tomorrow I will increase the distance once again.
#24 – 23.32K Trail Running
#25 – 4.30K Transport to train station
#26 – 3.60K Transport to home
Since the weather is going to be bad this evening, a lot of rain I decided to take the train and bus to Frostavallen and run a longer trail run.
The day started interesting, took the bus to the train station but the bus did not turn left on one street and I was wondering for a second if it was road construction but then I saw blue light from a police car and started to wondering, saw more blue lights from other police cars and streets were blocked. Thought that they were chasing a criminal that was hiding in an apartment since I also saw police men outside an apartment building.
Text messaged Wille and asked him if he had heard anything and he hadn’t but then he text messaged me back, turned out that a maniac had seen an unidentified object under his car and had driven his car to the police station and what the police had to do was to bring in the bomb squad to take a look at the object. I was glad I left town during the day.
Then I got yelled at by the bus driver when I was friendly helping out a passenger about tickets and decided to walk away to a seat, later that passenger thanked me for me being friendly.
Brought two bottles with water with me and started my run.
The goal today was to walk less and run up more hillier parts than last time.
Realized again that t-shirt was too hot so I had to take that off and run in my sports bra. Could finally breathe easier. Such a relief.
Even if it was hot that was a breeze from time to time.
I ran a detour when I got on white, did not pay attention where the next white marker pointed but the area did not seem familiar and turned back.
Then at one part of the route I am crossing the forest between two dirt roads but there they have cut a lot of trees so it does not look familiar anymore, am very familiar with this route and have had problems with following the route on my pulse watch. Walked here since it also are a lot of dry branches and needed to fint the right way, got a bit too far down to the left first and did not want to get more burned on these nasty plants called nettle
Turned back and finally I find the creek and the narrow path and got to the other dirt road.
It had grown a lot since I was here last time and got confused at one part and was not sure if I was on the right track and turned back, big mistake
Felt how it shorched bad on my calf and some on my under arm and cheek, saw a bee stuck on my calf and realized that I have gotten wasp bites. Waved away the nastiest one on my calf. Walked to feel if I had gotten a reaction or not but I seemed fine.
Had to stop and help a family telling them that they could swim at Dagtorps lake if they walked down the blue marker.
They have redirected the blue marker and decided to try the new part, otherwise I run to the right around Dagtorps lake.
Continued my run and then realized that I had to pass these
They did not look like ”normal” cows, I walked slowly and looked at them to make sure they would not attach me but they started to move away from me.
Was a bit warm so the heat ”killed” a bit this day and had to walk also because of the heat.
Was nice being back running in the woods and a longer trail run.
The transport back to the train station was warm and I drank the rest of the water and hoped that I would be able to fill those water bottles with cold water when I got to the train station.
Saw that a café was open and walked in and asked if the café man could be carnivorous and fill my water bottles with water and he had cold water in bottles in the refrigerator. He saved my day.
Drank cold water on the train and then got out at Stångby train station and ran back home.
Am now very tired in my legs and feet and will rest til Saturday when I plan to do hilly intervals.
Didn’t get my pulse belt after vacation, thinks it is left in the car.
Distance: 23.32K, time: 3.37.41.6 h, average pace: 9.19 min/k, max pace: 5.30 min/k, cadence: 150
