#43 (Flat Run) – 50 runs in 100 days – Just run edition
#44 (Barefoot Running) – 50 runs in 100 days – Just run edition
The plan was to run Lund Run which is a 27K run
Wore linnen, running skirt, water belt and flipbelt.
I can follow the route in my pulse watch and everything seemed fine in the beginning but then I noticed that the pace showed 0 and the distance did not move so I stopped the watch and started over.
In the beginning I had a hard time breating, felt once again that I had too much weight on or too much clothes but neither was the case 🙂
Once again I noticed that the pulse watch did not want to work with me today and I realized that the water belt made me having issues with the breathing, moved down the flipbelt and then moved down the water belt and now I could breath so much better 🙂
In the beginning it was hardly any breeze but then finally I felt some.
For one hour I could run but then I was forced to walk. Me, running and heat are not best friends and when I have started Walking one time it might be more. My body was not working with me. Felt Heavy legs and decided to cut the distance and try to find the shortest way home. Found some new roads around the city.
Ran up to the straight road at Annehem where I had decided to do barefoot running on the asphalt. Unknown distance (the pulse watch did not show the correct distance but I guess around 20K
Visualizing running on glass was not needed, this asphalt was rough, it felt like I got Little stones under one of my feet and had to stop

#42 (Barefoot Running) – 50 runs in 100 days – Just run edition
This is going to be a tough week, Friday is the last day of this challenge and I am a bit behind. So I decided I would run a short flat run and then finish with barefoot running.
When I walked from the train station to my home after work I felt a breeze and part of me said that I did not need my water belt but lucky me my wiser me told me to bring it.
I have two 5K runs; city run, mostly on bike paths and then one where I am running out in the country and longed for that one.
Wore linnen, running skirt, flipbelt and water belt.
Temperature: 27.5oC (81.5F) but when I started the run I did not feel any breeze and it did not take very long til I had to wet my hair and drink water. So in the beginning I struggled a bit but then around a corner of the hay bales I finally felt the breeze 🙂
Me, running and heat are not friends but I was surprised that I had a faster pace part of the run, under 6 min/k which I didn’t expect.
So I was glad I brought my water belt because I had to wet my hair many times during the run and drink water. That is a advice from me, always bring your water belt otherwise your run could be destroyed, either cutting the distance short or be forced to walk part of the run.
Distance: 5.28K, time: 32.26.5 min, average heart rate: 155, average pace: 6.08 min/k,
max pace: 5.33 min/k, cadence: 174, VO2 Max: 31 ml/kg/min
After the flat run I did some barefoot running, visualized running on glass but the cadence ended up not being good today.

Decided for a shorter run tonite after work and finish with some barefoot running
Wore running skirt, linnen, flipbelt
Really a good run, had a fast pace even on the longer hill part at the end. I was just focusing on the pace this time
Distance: 2.56K, time: 14.14.7, average heart rate: 143, average pace: 5.44 min/k, max pace: 4.25 min/k, cadence: 180, VO2 Max: 28 ml/kg/min
Decided that it was time for some barefoot running afterwards. It was a while ago since last time. Decided to run on the grass for 5 min and visualize that I was running on glass
Distance: 1.03K, time: 5.18.4 min, average heart rate: 145, average pace: 5.11 min/k, cadence: 186, VO2 Max: 26 ml/kg/min
Tonite it was time for the first Newaza (judo wrestling) after summer break.
At warm up we were running around the mat, unknown distance and then we did situps. That was no fun since, today after yesterday’s physical training, I had muscles soreness in my core muscles and then we had some other exercises like somersault and my favorite where we do somersault on the side 🙂 hilarious because it just doesn’t work. Running around the mat was not a problem, I am a runner 🙂
But then comes the floor struggle. we started with an exercise where I went up against someone who weighed at least 50 kg more than me and then the second exercise someone weighed 30 kg more than me, there it Went better.
The actual Newaza was tough today since I have not done any judo over summer
#29 – 50 runs in 100 days summer edition
#87 – 100 Days Of Miles Challenge
So after my hilly run I decided I would do some barefoot running again.
I have increased the time to 15 min, I tried to run barefoot running normally, like I would when I am running with shoes.
Tried to run a bit faster but I think that the hilly run problably tired my legs a bit. It was faster but not as fast as last time.
Started on the grass and then ran to the parking space and then back on the grass and then back again to the parking pace.
There are some ”scary hills” to conquer
This is the little hill that I start on
And then when I am on my way to the parking space I have a tougher hill 🙂
Today I did not run over branches but there are these tiny stones on the asphalt that also can do harm 🙂
When I walked back there came a dad with his two daughters and I overheard a comment from one of the daughters 🙂 why is she walking barefoot? And dad said that she like to walk barefoot. That put a smile on my face.
Distance: 1.22 miles (1.96K), time: 15.01 min, average pace: 7.39 min/k, max pace: 5.15 min/k
#27 – 50 runs in 100 days summer edition
#85 – 100 Days Of Miles Challenge
Today it was time again for some barefoot running.
And it was also time to increase the time to 15 min.
When I started with barefoot running I was a bit afraid of my feet and was running slower but I felt that I today could try to run faster as well.
Since I have both my pulse belt and pulse watch sent in for inspection I had to use Movescount to get this run registered which means no cadence.
Started on the grass and then I ran to the parking space to run on smooth asphalt. And then ran back to the starting point and then did the same run again
Where I am doing this barefoot running there is a tiny grass hill and a then a longer grass hill that I also run up and down on. Down hill I have to run on my whole foot otherwise I do forefeet running.
It is no good to run on branches and these prickly green plants that looks like dandelions but is something else, I do not remember the name. That can hurt 🙂
It is interesting how I have changed my mind. I have not been interested in barefoot running since I have heard a lot of stories about stress fractures and that runners have started with too long distance too soon and all the issues that they have had. But I also know runners who run in barefoot shoes and are excellent barefoot runners. They have a more graceful running. But with all the running technique discussion I have had this summer I decided I would give this a try.
Distance: 1.45 miles (2.34K), time: 15.01 min, average pace: 6.25 min/k, max pace: 3.58 min/k
This afternoon it was time again for some barefoot running. Got some tips yesterday.
So part of the run would be on the asphalt.
Started on the grass and then it was time to continue on the asphalt. Let me tell you that there is asphalt and asphalt. The first 20m was not very pleasant since most of the asphalt was rough so I had to get back on the grass again.
Got back on the asphalt again but it was also rough, ran up to a apartment area where I saw that the asphalt was smooth and also saw a parking space area where the asphalt also was smooth. Thought about the cadence.
Most of the run was on my forefeet.
So much better cadence today.
Distance: 1.12K, time: 10.12.7 min, average pace: 9.07 min/k, max pace: 7.35 min/k,
cadence: 186 🙂
Today I tried something that I have planned to do for some time but had not taken the time to do.
I tried barefoot running on grass for 10 minutes, without any shoes. First I ran like I normally do but then I thought that I would try to run only on my forefeet, after some time I felt pain in my right knee and had to go back running like I usually do. And then went back running on my forefeet. Need to work on the technique.
After have been running with Salomon Fellraiser on my longer trail runs and ultra races I ran into calves issues and had to change trail shoe and am testing Altra Lone Peak 1.5 at the moment but will upgrade later this fall to Lone Peak 2.0 which is a minimalist shoe which got me more interested in barefoot running and forefoot technology, therefore looking at my cadence more closely now.
Take off your shoes and become faster, stronger, less fragile, by barefoot running! There were probably many years ago, you ran barefoot. Perhaps you was a child and ran along the water at the beach, or running after your small children on the grass during any summer picnic. It is time that you turn back the clock and throwing off your shoes and try again!
Barefoot or in minimalist shoes, also known as the barefoot shoes, without excessive cushioning under the heel, you will notice that you land more on the whole foot. You will take shorter steps with greater frequency and land feet softer against the ground. All of this makes you a better runner. In addition, a less damaged one.
Recent studies indicate that the subjects experienced different results, but the majority have reported above.
• Fewer problems with recurrent ankle sprains and chronic foot injuries • Higher levels of perceived flexibility • Fewer problems with deformed toes • Improved balance (which has helped to prevent other damage) • Prevention of varicose veins (due to increased blood circulation in the feet)
Barefoot Running is also a good complement to the experienced runner. Barefoot Running strengthens your feet and calf muscles
Distance: 1.19K, time: 10.03.7 min, average pace: 8.29 min/k, max pace: 7.35 min/k,
