5.23K Short Run

#69

First rest week before the race.

So after work it was time for a short run.

Decided to wear wool sports bra, wool long sleeve, regular tights, regular socks.

Lately my legs have been wanting to run fast, I should take it easy when it is rest weeks 🙂 but my legs have not listened. So I got up a fast pace from the beginning and had to catch my breath and walk for a short moment. Back to running again and fast pace again, needed to walk for a short moment.

The positive thing was that I did not have any knee issue tonite. I felt some pain in the beginning but it disappeared.

Weight report

Happy with the weight today. This is where I hoped I would be at for the last couple of weeks.

5K Short Run

#1

So after 3 months cold that got over to pneumonia. Got better. Ran 5 times on my vacation. Even if it was tough it was nice being back running. But when I got back home I ran into another severe cold that made me cough for some weeks.

Yesterday I was able to sing through the whole choir rehearsal, now it was time to head out on my first run since February 18th.

So this is reality

This really disturbs me, before I ran into a cold in November I was down to 61 kg and I am sure that I would have gone under 60 kg by the end of year 2017 if I would have been able to continue running and also run the last ultra race in December.

So this year it is going to be about loosing a lot of weight, main goal is to finish those two laps at Kullamannen in November so it is going to be a tough year.

In the beginning of this run it felt good, not so breathless, sun was out and blue sky, I looked at my watch and saw that the pace was 5.25 min/k but knew that that wouldn’t last, had to slow down.

When I was in Thailand during my vacation I was forcing myself to run 2K and then I had to walk and then the last two runs I was forcing myself to walk a short distance and then run til I get back to the hotel, got up to 4K.

Had decided to head out on a 5K run, I was not sure how it would go but I was going to try to run as much as possible. Decided that I would run longer than 2K if I had to stop. Today I ran 2.8K before I had to stop and walk. It was not fun at all at the end, really heavy legs and it felt like I had a ton on my chest, got very breathless but was proud of myself.

Decided that I would walk 500 m before I had to get back running again. Had to catch my breath. Started running again and got to about 4K when I walked a much shorter distance, decided to force myself to run all the way through the cemetary and made it and then it was a hill on a bike path which I walked up on and then ran all the way nome.

Those 5K felt like I had run so much longer, like running intervals but it felt good putting on those running shoes again.

This week I am going back to the gym, ached in my knees and feel sore in my lower back, have not been at the gym since beginning of November and need to exercise my back and core but also the rest of my body and then I plan to run a 5K run this weekend.

I am two weeks ahead of schedule, last Spring I ran into a longer cold, 5 weeks, starting end of November and now I have started 2 weeks before I got back on track last year so maybe I will not be so breathless in a couple of weeks and can start running shorter runs in the woods shortly.

Getting back from pneumonia is no game, I just have to make up my mind to not give up, just keep going but I have to get up to 30K around beginning of Summer if I will have a great time running this ultra race in November.

3.24K Lunch Run

#31 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

Since it couldn’t be a run after work since it was going to be delivered a food delivery bag I decided I would run a lunch run instead.

This time I didn’t forget anything in my running back pack 🙂

Ran the route that I have run since I started running a lunch run at work. This time alone which right now is ok.

Today I was breathless even if the pace was around 6.30 min/k.

Realized it was construction work where cars were not allowed to drive but I decided that it would be fine for me as a runner.

Distance: 3.24K, time: 20.12.7 min, average heart rate: 147, average pace: 6.13 min/k, max pace: 4.46 min/k, cadence: 176, VO2 Max: 26 ml/kg/min

8.15K Hilly Run

#14 – 50 Runs in 100 days – Spring edition

I have not been active here for a while due to a cough and a irritating and stubborn cough that decided to stay so now it is my 5th week and allergy season. During the week I have been doing some thinking and had to decided if it is a allergy cough now or not and decided to test running for th first time in 5 weeks.

The plan from the beginning was to take the train to Höör and the bus to Frostavallen to run on the green mark but this morning it looked very rainy and decided to run on St Hans hills instead.

Temperature 7oC (45F)

Wore compression tights, long sleeve, windstopper, gloves and hat.

It felt that I had not done so much hilly running lately, breathless running up the hills.

The first was ”Mördarbacken” (=Killing hill) and oh boy. On another hill there was a group who did some type of interval training up a steep part of the top hill.

I saw one dad with his daughter walking up that hill. Part of the run is was on the verge of breathlessness, need to run there much more if I am going to be shape if I am going to run St Hans Extreme

Even if it felt heavy it was nice being back doing hilly training.

On my second lap I hear someone shout my name and I turned around and the dad with the daughter turned out to be an ”old” climbing buddy of mine so I just had to stop and talk with him. Did not know he had become a dad, had not seen him for some years. The daugher was 22 months and spoke both Spanish, English and Swedish and a charmer. Nice to catch up and then it was time to finish the run and head home

Gloves and hat got off and also the windstopper twice.

Some ache in one of my hips but did some foamrolling afterwards

Push Up

#3 – 10 Day Push-Up Holiday Challenge

Yesterday the pushup challenge was 45s with a push-up variation. You stood in the regular push up position and then put down your under arms on the floor, up and down.

A bit breatless today. Seems to me that we have to count everytime.

Felt a bit in my back today.
