8K Beach Running

#22 – 50 runs in 10t0 days – Summer edition

Our journey continued, being on the road today and when we finally arrived at the hotel I had to head out for a run.

I have been wanting to run on the beach but have not done this yet so tonite I did something very different

IMG_5121_170713

Headed towards the beach but turned then left on a road where it ended and I headed out on narrow paths towards the beach

IMG_5122_170713

Then I headed up on a hill and saw this view

IMG_5123_170713

And then it was time to head down to the beach and decided to run to the left til I had reached 2K

IMG_5124_170713

But I had to try to run up on a dune and I can say with regular running shoes is no piece of cake, I had to walk up. I got down on the beach but saw another path with smaller stones that I had to try and got down to a car road and then headed back

IMG_5125_170713

Got back on the beach and when I had reached 4K I had to run 1.5K to the right til I headed back. There were a lot of ”kite surfers” except that they were up in the air.

Tough to run on the sand but it was better closer to the water but from time to time I was chased by the waves 🙂

IMG_5126_170713

Then it was time to head back to the hotel.

6.04K Short Run

#21 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

Today I spent the day at the beach and did some walking.

Just when it was time for lunch it started raining so we were lucky.

When we got back I went out for a city run that turned out not to be a flat run.

Tough. Felt some pain in my left knee in the beginning but lucky me the pain went away.

IMG_5103_170711

Glad that I brought my waterbelt because I had to wet my hair a couple of times and drink water. Did some walking.

12.39K Short Run

#19 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

I have had issues following routes with my Suunto GPS pulse watch. Suunto Customer Service have been helpful and I have tested different things but nothing has helped. What happens is that max 0.6K is registered and then all other values get screwed up, one time the pulse watch even lost the route, lucky me I was on Tjörnarparen which nowadays is a familiar route. The pulse watch made a trip to Finland to the technicians who responded that nothing was wrong with the pulse watch. I assume they have been sitting in their lab using their troubleshooting tools and have not been running with the pulse watch and followed a route.

But I was determined not to give up and informed Customer Service about my disappointment, lately I have felt that they have tried to dilatory but then a Customer Service person asked me to do GPS reset which I did last week.

Tonite it was time to test following a route again and to be on the safe side I had my Apple Watch on my left hand using Strava.

IMG_0900_170705

First I thought that it was the same shit but at 1K I saw 1K and said hurrah.

The temperature showed 30oC (86F) before I st.arted my run so running skirt and linnen, waterbelt with two water bottles. Me, running and heat are not best friends so it would probably be some walking.

IMG_0901_170705

I am participating in another challenge this month called ”Run Til U Fall”. How does it work. July consists of 31 days and each day you are going to run as much as the day of the month, so July 1, 1K, July 10, 10 etc so you need to buffer in the beginning, you get bonus k’s if you run for example 20K July 1st you have 19 bonus k’s. Walking is also ok to register so I have walked a bit more this week and my left knee was not happy this morning but I put liniment on the knee before I ran and I will see tomorrow how it feels, have decided not to run Friday so I can rest til Saturday when I will do a longer run before vacation when I will not run any long runs.

Well it was warm, my knee was not complaning during running, on my first walking I felt a bit in my knee but when I started running again I was fine.

So walking from time to time and drinking and wet my hair. There were parts of the run when I was running longer but it was also a breeze then.

IMG_0895_170705

I have forgotten part of the run because it was a while ago since I ran it last time so it was nice following the route.

Slowest before when I have been running the whole route has been around 1 h 20 min.

Distance: 12.39K, time: 128.51.6 h, average heart rate: 133, average pace: 7.10 min/k,  max pace: 5.25 min/k, cadence: 162, VO2 Max: 26 ml/kg/min

3.18K Lunch Run

#18 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

I have not run a lunch run in a very long time due to colder weather but today I hoped or I did not really have a choice, I am part of a challenge where I have to get k’s every day, running or walking and I wouldn’t be able to do it in the evening since I have to be at home waiting for a delivery of a dinner bag of groceries.

And it was not grey in the morning and the temperature increased to 17oC (62.6F)so finally I would run a lunch run.

Was not sure about the temperature when I packed my running bag and decided to add a long sleeve and wear capri tights.

IMG_5041_170703

Got a good pace, nice to have faster legs now even if the body is still not in sync, felt that my core muscles were working.

IMG_5042_170703

Distance: 3.18K, time: 18.48.1 min, average heart rate: 152, average pace: 5.55 min/k, max pace: 5.13 min/k, cadence: 178, VO2: 32 ml/kg/min

16.24K City Hilly Running

#17 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

Tee original plan was to run 20K near the water on Österlen but since it was going to rain I decided to stay in the city and had to do a city run. Needed a hilly run and in the morning I decided I would run first to Klosterängshöjden and run up on one side and down on the other and then run back from the other side and down on the first side. Then run to St Hans Hills and run one lap and run around 20K.

It rained in the morning but around 10 it looked fine so I headed out.

IMG_5024_170701

Good choice to put on a long sleeve and capri shorts, even if it was 17oC (62.6F) it was cold in the air.

IMG_5028_170701

It felt to run up all hills at Klosterängshöjden, this spring I had to do a lot of walking up hills and now I just did it. Was a bit slippery but I managed to not slide to much, did not wear my trail running shoes.

IMG_5027_170701

Then it was to run back to St Hans hills and run one lap, ran also up all hills except the last one (murder hill) which is just soil and with all the rain it was slippery so I tried to run where I could but walk where it was really gooey. Such a joy to finally have strong legs and strong mind.

Just before I was finished running on St Hans hills it started raining again so I decided to cut the distance since I didn’t know when the rain would stop and I am not interested at all to get another cold when I am finally back with my running an gym training, did not want to get soaked and freeze.

IMG_5029_170701

Distance: 16.24, time: 2.01.53.7, average heart reate: 153, average pace: 7.30 min/k, max pace: 4.28 min/k, cadence: 170, VO2 Max: 39 ml/kg/min

Pulse Based Interval Training

#16 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

Tonite it was time for pulse based interval training again.

Realized during warmup that it was really windy so it would be very interesting.

First it was 2K warmup and after that the first interval for 2K and not going over 160. Windy from the very beginning made it tough the first 1/4 of the interval, was around 150 but then around the corner it was not that windy anymore and I could increase the pace and get up to 157-159.

Then time for 2 min rest when I walked and drank some water.

Time for the second interval for 2K, there is a hilly part but I managed to not get over 160.

2 min rest when I walked and drank some  water.

On the third interval something interesting happened, just in the beginning I realized  so that the pulse was already up to 183 ??? so I had to slow down  a lot, that has never happened but after that I got up to 157-159.

When I had my rest the pulse watch never beeped, got down to too low pulse, that’s the reason why I realized that something was not right so I decided to start the interval and would stop just before I would cross a car road, close to my home.

Then a short cool down that was actually less than 1K.

Distance: 10.79K, time: 1.12.19.8 h, average heart rate: 147, average pace: 6.42 min/k, max pace: 5.13 min/k, cadence: 170, VO2 Max: 35 ml/kg/min

5.25K Short Run

#15 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

I decided that I wouldn’t run a lunch run today, instead I hoped for a bit warmer weather after work. Also felt that I wanted to run a bit longer than 3K.

It was a bit windy when I got back from work but decided to wear shorts and t-shirt. Also to be on the safe side 2 bottles of water in the water belt.

The goal today was to run the whole run, no walking.

Decided to run my 5K run on the country side where it is more dirt road than asphalt. Am not sure if the asphalt is the reason why I have to walk more. In combination with the fact that I still need to get on track with distance around 20-25K.

Had a good pace from the beginning, some upwind and some hillier parts.

Was so nice to run the whole route, that felt really really good.

Distance: 5.25K, time: 32.50.7 min, average heart rate: 148, average pace: 6.15 min/k, max pace: 5.13 min/k, cadence: 170, VO2 Max: 33 ml/kg/min

10.75K Morning Run

#14 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

Decided to head out for a morning run before breakfast.

Realized that I had forgotten my sports bra at home so linnen, t-shirt, shorts.

It was a bit chilly in the beginning.

IMG_4959_170623

The route would go Brantevik and back and I would also have a chance to find the orange marker when I will have a long run next weekend and part of the run will go where I would run today.

IMG_4960_170623

So down to the water 2K and then I find the orange marker.

IMG_4961_170623

Really nice houses near the water at Simrislund.

T-shirt got off when I had a hard time breathing so it was great having the linnen under the t-shirt.

When I got to Brantevik I got in from the water side and was not sure which road I had to get up on to head back to Simris on the other side

IMG_4962_170623

Saw a lady and asked her if she knew which road would take me back to Simris but she was not a Brantevik living person.

IMG_4963_170623

I had calculated that the route would be around 7K, a road felt familiar so I headed up on that one and got out on the right place but I thought that I would get out closer to the Simris road but got out a bit further down.

IMG_4964_170623

Had to run on a car road where I had to keep track of the cars so I could run down closer to the ditch because the roadside was to narrow.

Finally I got to the Simris road, the route got to be a bit longer than expected.

Distance: 10.75K, time: 1.24.41.6 h, average heart rate: 126, average pace: 7.52 min/k , max pace:  5.26 min/k, cadence: 158, VO2 Max: 37 ml/kg/min.

Was a bit tough today, was forced to walk from time to time but the weather improved and got to be perfect when the sun came out.

18.79K Long Run

#13 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

Since it is Midsummer in Sweden this weekend I decided that I would run the long run after work tonite.

IMG_4885_170621

Perfect weather, not too warm or cold, decided to wear linnen, shorts, flipbelt and 2 water bottles in a water belt.

IMG_4888_170621

I have a nice longer run running out on the country side, mainly asphalt, maybe 1K dirty road but very nice run in the summer time

IMG_4899_170621

IMG_4900_170621

The goal was to run as long as possible, maybe not any walking at all.

IMG_4901_170621

This is a route that I have run many times, earlier on this route I always got pain in one of my knees, I suspected that the country road is leaning so the loading will be more on one leg so lately I try to run more out on the country road instead of on the shoulder (=vägren) but then I have to be more responsive of the cars but the traffic is not that heavy

IMG_4902_170621

It is so soothing running near the fields, hearing the birds singing and enjoy seeing the amazing cornfields.

IMG_4904_170621

At around 7.5K I ran into a knee issue and had to walk at around 8K.

IMG_4905_170621

Ran again and turned back. Had a light upwind during the run, realized when I had turned around that I had actually increased the pace

IMG_4907_170621

Decided that I would turn back to the right instead of running straight when I was running under the car road because of the knee issue and tired legs after the long run this weekend.

IMG_4908_170621

In the summer time it is so great that I can run a longer run like this after work because it does not get dark, I wouldn’t run this route with a reflective vest and feel safe since there are no street lights, this route I run usually day time during later Fall and winter.

Distance: 18.79K, time: 2.23.39.1 h, average heart rate: 135, average pace: 7.38 min/k, max pace: 5.23 min/k, cadence: 154, VO2 Max: 32 ml/kg/min

20.78K Trail Run

#12 – 50 runs in 100 days – Summer edition

Felt that I needed breakfast before my long run this weekend so I woke up at 7 am, ate breakfast and got ready for a new route on Österlen

IMG_4850_170617IMG_4851

Started at Tobisvik, a camping place on the outside of Simrishamn, new route that I had not run before.

IMG_4852_170617

Started in shorts, t-shirt and my ultra back pack but I had a hard time breathing and decided to take off my t-shirt and run in my sports bra which was a good decision because I could breath much lighter after that.

IMG_4853_170617

Found the orange marker when I decided to run down the dirt road just before Vårhallen, much nicer then being on the bike path, passed a lot of dog walkers and morning walkers in the beginning.

IMG_4855_170617_170617

IMG_4856_170617

Passes smaller villages also, my firt detour was done when I got close the water again, saw the orange marker, took a picture over the water

IMG_4857_170617

and continued the route but my head told me that this did not seem right so I headed back, brought up the map but had forgotten my eye glass but saw another runner running up hilll and then I saw the orange marker and took the same way

IMG_4858_170617

Then it was a while when I ran on asphalt, the surroundings were nice but a bit boring

IMG_4859_170617

IMG_4860_170617

IMG_4861_170617

Continued running on asphalt til I got to Stenshuvud
S
tenshuvud is a national park

IMG_4862_170617

IMG_4864_170617

There I also took a detour, thought that I would run down to the right but once again my heat said that this does not seem to be right and realized that I should have run to the left again, detours is not a negative thing, you get more distance 🙂

IMG_4865_170617

IMG_4866_170617

Here am I at the highest point at Stenshuvud national park with a great view. On my view there I got flashlights of Kullaberg

IMG_4868_170617

Highlight of the day was this experience

IMG_4869_170617

IMG_4870_170617

I ran down these stairs, was easier than on Hallandsultran where I have to get up similiar stairs

Lovely running in the woods, such beautiful view

IMG_4871_170617

Realized that I had gotten very close to Kiviks musteri

And then I saw orange markers passing Kiviks musteri but got fooled because there were some orange markers on a road to the left and headed down there, got down to the water but did not see any natural path and anymore markers and headed back on the asphalt

IMG_4875_1700617

IMG_4873_170617

And after the route was finished it was lovely, refreshing with my first dip in the water this year, cold but did not freeze too much afterwards

IMG_4877_170617

Satisfied with the route, new, lovely nature, some walking but also running.

Distance: 20.78, time: 2.51.47.8 h, average heart rate: 141, average pace: 8.15 min/k, max pace: 5.16 min/k, cadence: 152, VO2 Max: 31 ml/kg/min
